Reflection: The Layang Layang Museum
To say the truth I was expecting the 'layang layang' museum to be a place I would have never wanted to go to as it was a kite museum. But it was later that I realised the museum was beautiful! There were many sorts of kites and patterns. My favourite kite was the one in the shape of a peacock, as we all know the peacock is an exquisite bird and elagant one too and that it would be very difficult to make that kite. But inspite that the kite makers have made it hence, hats off to them! There was also another kite that i liked, it was the kinte which had a merlion on it! It was one of it's kind! Actually another name for the 'layang layang' museum is the 'Pasir Gudang Kite Museum'. It was opened in 2002 February, during the 7th Pasir Gudang Kite Festival, which was opened as an appreciation to Malaysian & International kite-flyers. This museum houses a wide collection of traditional kite heritage known as 'wau', which comes from the malay vocabulary 'wouw' meaning kite. the name 'wau' was also derived from the hummer of the kite. Speaking about hummer, there was a demonstration on how the hummer worked. It was simply amazing what they can do with just bamboo and a type of leaf! There was also another demonstration, it was on how they make kite. It takes alot of patience! There were so many things to do! Basically, the museum made me take back my words, it proved me wrong and i was happy that it did. I'm glad the museum turned out to be a wonderful place. I really enjoyed the Johor trip! It was very fun!

Lyrics for "Oil Romance"
Rah Rah Rah Ah Ah
Rama Rama Ma
Gaga Oh La La
Watch out oil romance
Rah Rah Rah Ah Ah
Rama Rama Ma
Gaga Oh La La
Watch out oil romance
Oil palm plantations cannot be forgotten
Main source of cooking oil for us to cook
For us to cook
Cook, cook, cook
For us to cook
It gives girls make-up to make them beautiful
Even though it’s disgusting
It’s very useful
Useful (Use-use-ful)
Useful
O-I-L P-A-L-M
Oil palm is the best
(Oh)
Because it gives us wealth
Go oil palm
Go oil palm
(Oh)
Oil palm is the best
Oil palm is the best
Rah Rah Rah Ah Ah
Rama Rama Ma
Gaga Oh La La
Watch out oil romance

Reflection on Sultan Abu Bakar Royal Museum
The Sultan's former palace was elaborately decorated...
There were numerous rooms in the palace, such as the Chamber of the Royal Council ,Royal dining room ,Children room ,State bedroom and dressing room of the Sultanah ,The anteroom ,The reception room ,Banqueting room ,Throne room ,Miscellaneous collection and hunting room.
I learned that there were no modern facilities in the past, such as toilets and was initially shocked. Later on ,I realised the basin-looking porcerlain containers were actually for the people to spit in and the vase-like porcerlain container was actually the toilet bowl... And they were found in the bedrooms.
The most interesting and impressive item in the palace was the antiques. They were suprisingly well-kept and looked as good as new... A number of them were from China - the antique vases and plates.
The experience in the Palace was truly memorable and interesting, since I there were many things that I have never seen before that were found in the palace.

The Layang Layang Museum
The Layang Layang Museum is actually a kite museum. Another name for it, is the Pasir Gudang Kite Museum. It was opened to the public in February 2002 during the 7th Pasir Gudang Kite Festival. It was opened as an appreciation towards the contribution of Malysian and International kite flyers.
The museum houses a collection of traditional kite heritage known as the 'Wau'. The word 'Wau' is derived from the 'wouw' vocabulary whick means kite. The name is also derived from the sound made by the hummer of the kite at flight.
The main features of the kite are characterized by its head, tail and wing section. It takes alot of patience and hard work to make a nicely done kite. Hence it is not a fast and easy job.

Reflection
From the Johor trip, I learnt a lot about malaysia's history and how palm oil is produced. I liked the palm oil plantation best as I found it very interesting. I didn't really find the oil palm mill smelly. I was surprised that oil palms could live up to 25 years. I originally thought they could only live a few years. The sultan's palace was beautiful and quite modern. I was shocked when i saw the Sultan's hunting room. The animals looked very life-like and it was hard to tell if they were real or fake. Some of the animals looked quite sad. You could see the bullet holes on some of the tigers.
